Simple Wisdom: Perfection? What’s that, anyway?

Simple Wisdom: “Perfection” is an illusion, so why worry about it?

“Perfection” is impossible to achieve, for it is based solely on an intellectualized idea of what we hope for in a situation. The minute this strays from our projection, we experience disappointment. So what is “perfection?” What is “perfect?”

These words are simply ideas. They have no intrinsic meaning or value. The quest for perfection will always dead end in disappointment. Save yourself this heartache by accepting things as they are. Develop criteria for what is acceptable and unacceptable based on your own value system and view things from within this range.

“Perfection” creates rigidity. Soften. Do not be so rigid. Allow for other ideas to influence your view and your attitude. “Perfection” dilutes. “Perfection” deteriorates. It is the erosion of the soul. Don’t seek it. Don’t thrive for it. Just be.

Be flexible in your idea of what “Perfect” is. Let it be a fluid concept. Don’t get too locked into one definition. Allow it to be a concept that gives you something to strive for to the extent that yo do try, but not so exact that it can never be change.

Remember, Not everybody is bound for glory or high accolades but this should in no way preclude them from striving to be the best that they can be. Some of us make tremendous differences in the lives of others without book deals or television appearances or calls from the president. The difference we make to others ripples outward and touches many- many untold and uncountable people.

We all, each of us, make a difference and we should take a moment here and there, now and then, to pat our own selves on the back and say “Thank you.” Say thank you to yourself to receive the appreciation that fuels our actions, and say thank you to the universe for the opportunity to contribute to the well being and evolution of the species.

Simple Wisdom: Maze Visualization for Enlightenment

Simple Wisdom: Enlightenment is a giant maze

Imagine a great maze, very giant. Maybe a hundred or so square miles total, with very confusing and very intricate paths to walk through to get from the beginning of it to the end.

Now imagine this as your karmic existence. Imagine that you make what progress you can this life time. Imagine that at the start of your next lifetime, you may start where you left off in the maze last time. Or do you need to back track and retrace some steps because you missed an opportunity to learn certain lessons?

How many lifetimes will it take you to get out of this maze?

King of Swords: Be the Answer Man

King of Swords Tarot Card: Show your professionalism

Today, expect to be the one with the answers. Expect people to assume you are the authority on whatever the case at hand is. In reality, you may or may not be the authority, but because people seem to think you are, you better have some answers. If you don’t have the answers, you better know where they can be found.

Whatever the case may be, today is the day to show your professionalism and your ability to communicate. As long as you are not wishy-washy on any questions that come up, as long as you can definitely answer it, or definitely say “I don’t know” without making people guess what you mean, all will be right. This is what the King of Swords tarot card has for you on this day.

Lovers Tarot Card: Appreciation

Today is a day to accentuate and appreciate connections of all types. In what ways are you not alone? This is not a matter of what romantic relationship you may or may not be in, although if that is a strong connection for you, what can you do to augment it today? What are your connections? Who do you enjoy being around? If you are at work, who at work depends on you for support? Who do you depend on? Who’s presence makes your day that much more bearable and nicer? Who do you look forward to seeing every day? Friends? Family? Coffee shop barista?

Explore your connections today. Take note of which are strong and if not celebrate them, at least give a word of silent thanks. These connections are a big part of what makes life good.  This is the advice of the Lovers tarot card for today.

Simple Wisdom: Your energy drained by people talking

Simple Wisdom: People will drain your energy by talking too much

Sometimes you need to put yourself first and not allow your energy to be drained.

Sometimes people will drain your energy by being behind you, or just in the same room as you and talking. Blah blah blah, on and on about stuff you absolutely do not care about and/or would rather not have to listen to. They just keep talking and talking and talking and you feel drained.

Other people will drain your energy by talking to you, or rather at you. They hold you hostage by expecting you to listen interestedly to everything they are saying, completely unaware that you simply don’t care. Probably, they’ve already said these things to somebody else while you were in earshot, maybe even a few other people, so you’ve already heard it, processed it, and stored it away in your memory bank wherever such useless and mundane information goes, but now it’s your turn to hear it.

This person is unaware of the draining effect they have on you. They only are aware of a distinct need to vocalize. So there you are, a hostage in their verbal cage, enduring this barrage of mundane words being thrown at you. Blah blah blah… on and on it goes. How do you politely bring an end to it without hurting any feelings? You endure despite the significant energy drain associated with it.

And what is the solution? What can you do about this problem? These people are clueless. They will not take a hint. Therefore, the direct approach is all you are left with. You just have to tell them, “Look. I would really like some silence right now.” If that doesn’t work, tell them you need to focus on your work, or whatever it is you are doing. If that doesn’t work, invest in some noise blocker headphones and listen to music. Maybe just the sight of them on your head will deter this person. If you put them on while they are talking to you, they are almost sure to get the hint. It may hurt their feelings, but which is worse? Their hurt feelings or your sanity? Sometimes you need to put yourself first and not allow your energy to be drained.

What’s Tarot Got To Do With It?

Double Oh Fool Guide to Tarot Mastery

Simple Wisdom: The ego taking up space

Simple Wisdom: The ego will puff up and occupy as much space as possible

The ego is a demanding master. Once fed, it only grows steadily hungrier.

Observing the egos of others, I watch them try to as they might to occupy as much space as they can. They puff up as they move, as they walk, attempting as they might to be larger, to be felt, to be seen. Their energy center migrates from their heart to their head. They force their thoughts out into the world like flying swords, flying daggers to those around them who are unable to escape them.

They occupy as much space as they can with noise, both little and small, often vocalizing the mundane and the trivial to the interest of no one, not even their selves. They make their noise by slamming desk drawers, slamming doors, singing songs that nobody but their own selves find entertaining. They do these things to excerpt power and control. But what are they in control of? Have they been challenged?

In some ways, yes they have been challenged. They have placed themselves on top of a mound. In their mind, this mound is in reality, a mountain top. From this vantage point, they overlook their kingdom. All those around them are their subjects. They are all at their bidding. All they really require is to be noticed, to be paid attention to, to be validated, to be acknowledged. But what happens when their “subjects” simply don’t notice? Or they do notice, but reject what they see? What happens now?

Now, they are invalid. Now their vantage point on top of this “mountain” is greatly diminished. How to handle this? By puffing up. By becoming big. By filling the room by any means available to them. To steal attention. To steal and rob others of their energy. Puff up. Become big. Disregard others.

If you are more important than others, what need do you have to respect them? Why? They are you minions. They are here to serve you and your ego. You are not here to share their respect. You are here to be served. So you take all you can. You rape, pillage, and plunder the energy and the soul of others until you have all you can carry. But is it ever enough?

The ego is a demanding master. Once fed, it only grows steadily hungrier. What is enough for the ego? When is it satisfied? It continues to feed until it is bloated and gross and hardly recognizable as human.

Often it is not until tragedy that the ego has had its fill. It happens that a Tower experience triggers a realization of the ego’s folly. It must build its falsehood taller and taller until it finally can sustain itself no more and crumbles. Now perhaps the ego will  examine itself and discover the truth of itself, that it was never anything more than a self-sustaining entity.

Maybe now this person will relax. Maybe now they won’t puff up and occupy so much space. Maybe now they will calm their minds and not send so many swords and daggers to those around them. Maybe now they will be calm and bearable. Maybe now they will be exposed to what is true and what matters in life. Maybe now they will realize that everybody they encounter is on their own unique and individual path and that they each are deserving and worthy of respect.

Simple Wisdom: Evolving towards Jesus

Simple Wisdom: Jesus is the example of what we can become

Jesus was placed upon the earth as an example of what mankind can be, what mankind will be. He is an example of what we are evolving towards.

His love and his energy is perfect and pure. By opening our hearts, we too are capable of becoming perfect and pure with love for one another and for the other species of the earth that is without limits or conditions. It is what we work towards. When we speak of “perfect ourselves for God” we are speaking of feeling love for all without conditions. This involves the total surrender of the ego. How could it not?

With the ego in place, we perceive attack. We feel that those whose behavior is a bother to us are acting such to cause us pain, irritation, and bother. This is most often not the actual case though. This is only our perception of the case. We are conditioned to believe that we are number one, the center of everything, the most important object in our own universe. When we accept oneness, wholeness, we glimpse how much this is not true. We discover how our actions affect others. We become mindful.

Likewise, we discover that the bothersome acts of others are not geared towards or directed at us. They are simply the reaction of our ego trying so hard to maintain a status quo. We invent ourselves in such and such a way. We tell ourselves that we are only truly true, only truly authentic when certain conditions are in place. Then these conditions are upset, disrupted, so we view those doing the disrupting as a problem. But this is false. We still are who we are. We are now only reacting to this other situation.

Go inside and hold tight to that core you within, and no outside influences will affect you. We are only affected by our reactions. Our reactions are from the mind. Our mind will tell us this and that about a situation. But this is only our mind. In our heart and our spirit, we know something different to be true.

But as long as we give our mind control, we will be at its mercy. Remember, our thoughts create our reality. As long as our thoughts create a reality of attack and of battle, we will live an existence of attack and battle. If we shift to an attitude of harmony and balance, our thoughts will create a reality of harmony and balance. If we have trouble with this, if it is hard for us to do, we need only ask for help, we need only pray and then silence our mind to hear the guidance we are being provided.

This is to appreciate Jesus beyond the narrow constraints of religious dogma. This is to appreciate Jesus in your own way, on your own terms without any expectations being placed on you by any forces that be. This is the true Jesus. This is Christ Consciousness. This is to be the best you can be through the example set by Jesus.

Simple Wisdom: Finding God

Simple Wisdom: Finding God from within or with-out

Some people speak of finding God. This is well and good. I speak of finding yourself, which by my definition is the same thing as finding god. Where do you search for God- from with-out or from within? He exists everywhere, so one is just as good as the other. If you start from within, you can radiate outward from there. If you start from out, you can draw inward. It matters not where you begin the search. You will find God wherever you look for him. Once found, you will notice all the other places he is too.

Simple Wisdom: Making sense of religion, God, and our self

Knowings From The Silence: Religion helps us make sense

Religion is nothing but man’s attempt to make sense of his/her own personal connection to God, the Universe, our own higher self within the context of human form.

How can we be a part of God when we are separate from him here on the earth in these human, very limited bodies? Religion is man’s attempt to answer that question. The truth is, we are not separate. We only feel that way because of the boundaries and limitations placed on us by human form. Religion is but an organized way of feeling this connection.

Religion can also be a celebration of this connection. It is an opportunity to come together as humans and celebrate the spirit within, celebrate our connection to God, The Divine, The Universe, however you choose or have been conditioned to define it. In its best sense, in this way, religion can be a positive and good thing. When it becomes co-opted by those wanting personal glory and power and seek this by instigating mind control in the name of God that religion can be corrupted.

When thoughts of God and views of God become so rigid and unbending, troubles arise. We must remain open to new ideas and new approaches to our relationship with God. Then, religion can evolve along with humanity and more peace will be evident on the planet.

What’s Tarot Got To Do With It?

Double Oh Fool Guide to Tarot Mastery

Simple Wisdom: A purpose of pain

Simple Wisdom: Pain can be beneficial to our progress

One true purpose of our life, our presence in human form upon the earth is to learn lessons. We all do, our spirits, strive to attain perfection. So, we create situations, both painful and joyful, to facilitate those lessons. In this way, our spirits crave pain.

They crave this pain that we may work our way through it in order to become more perfect, to appreciate the true perfection we all possess.  For people to understand this will change the perspective they all face in the world. No longer will they be “victims” but rather “students”- students of human form.

Our bodies are but vehicles of the spirit. It is our spirit that drives the body. The trick is for the mind to fully surrender to the spirit and allow the spirit to have the experiences it has set out to have. If the mind interferes too much, it only causes difficulties for the spirit in accomplishing what it set out to accomplish. If the mind interferes too much, it will damage the spirit’s chance to learn the lesson a particular situation was designed to teach. What happens then?

An opportunity must be created whereby the spirit will have the opportunity to experience this lesson again. This can only slow down the spirit’s progress as it goes back to redo this lesson when it could be putting energy into learning and experiencing something new and different. Imagine that the spirit has a checklist of experiences and lessons it wants to accomplish in its current human form. The sooner it can check off that it had one experience and learned the lesson, it can move on to another.

Is this check list presented in a chronological order that it must go through? That is doubtful. More likely, it is presented in a nonlinear fashion. Each lesson represents a piece of the puzzle. The objective is to collect as many pieces as you can. Of course, our guides and our angels are guiding us towards the pieces. We must only open ourselves to their guidance and to follow.

When faced with pain, be mindful of what benefit it has for you as you learn life’s lessons.
