3 of Swords: A Stabbed and Bleeding Heart

3 of Swords Tarot Card

3 of Swords Tarot Card: Dealing with Emotional Pain

The 3 of Swords tarot card just looks painful. Doesn’t it? Look at it. Three swords stab through a heart. This card is a depiction of how it feels to have our feelings hurt and/or our heart broken. What exactly constitutes these swords? From where did they come? How did they get so sharp and why do they hurt the way they do? Reflecting on this can be the instigation of emotional healing. By examining where these swords came from, and who or what was wielding them and stabbing you with them, you may be able to go back to the primal instance of the wounding and address the pain there. Instead of reacting broadly to the pain, deconstruct it. Examine each aspect of it- each sword- and understand the cause of it. Doing this has the benefit of deeper self-understanding which is a step towards healing. It also helps in the development of empathy, for when you understand this about yourself, you are able to see it in others. –Jim Larsen

Death: Get Over It and Move On!

Death Tarot Card

The Death Card of Tarot: Don’t Stay Stuck in the Past

The Death card of tarot could well be telling you that it is time to let something go. Don’t cling too tightly to this thing in your life. Whatever it is, it is over, and it is time to accept that. Enjoy the memories, but realize that memories are all they are now.

It is time to reinvent yourself and move in a new direction to become what you are meant to become now that this new chapter that has begun. When you read a book, do you stay stuck on one chapter and continually reread it without moving on to see how the rest of the book turns out? It is doubtful. So why live life this way?

Time moves on like the pages of a book and one situation gives way to the next, to the next, to the next. Notice that each page builds on the previous pages. They would never amount to anything if each page had the exact same words on it. Remember fondly, but don’t stay stuck in the life you once lived. Live the life you are living now. Anticipate where it is going and enjoy the journey that life is. This could never happen without the continuous cycle of death and rebirth, and it is nothing to fear. –Jim Larsen
