Simple Wisdom: OUR EMOTIONS ARE OUR COMPASS

Take inventory of your emotions. Notice the ones that are negative and not serving your highest and best interest. Notice the ones that do not belong to you. Follow them to their source and let go of them. Release. Do excess negative feelings not slow you down? Make you heavy? Isn’t it difficult to move forward with this weight upon you? And isn’t that what it is? Weight? Does it not make you feel as though you are trudging through quicksand? Who needs that? Shed these emotions. Let go of this weight and find yourself moving forward so much less hindered and slowed down. The difference this makes will be incredible.

Remember, emotions are both compass points for us and teachers. When feeling a particular emotion, it can be pointing to the direction we don’t want to go in. Anger, frustration, resentment, jealousy, these all are things we try to move away from. Joy, happiness, contentment- these are things we want to move towards, move into. As teachers, when feeling these things, examine why. What is it about these situations and people that trigger you in this way? Take an honest look at this. Follow the shadow back to the light for illumination as to why this is. –Jim Larsen
