4 of Cups Tarot Card: Turn your boredom around

Boredom is a mindset. Look at this guy in the 4 of cups tarot card. He doesn’t have to be so bored if he could train his mind to find other qualities in a situation. Boredom is not an intrinsic quality of humankind. The mind is meant to be a tool that contributes to the betterment and the survival of the overall being, but all too often it turns against the overall being and causes stress and distress.

The mind, capable of deep and profound thoughts, often spends its time looking for what is wrong. Sometimes what is wrong is that “There is nothing to do” or “This that I have to do is dull and uninteresting.” And then it does nothing to fix this perceived problem. It doesn’t look for alternate ways of looking at it to make it more interesting. It doesn’t look for the humor in it. It doesn’t look for a philosophical component to it. No, it just whines that it is uninteresting. This is unfortunate. As powerful as the mind is, when it searches for new and different ideas about a situation, it will find them, and it will have new dimensions to explore. So that is a good thing to do.

When feeling bored about something, instead of feeling defeated by that boredom, turn it around and force your mind to find another way to perceive that thing. It doesn’t even have to be anything big. It could be some little thing that you can ponder, laugh about, or deconstruct. Do this, and your mind will be active. You can even write about what you find. Some people have made good money examining the smallest things in life. They turned their boredom around and made it work for them. They didn’t let their inner 4 of cups get to them. — Jim Larsen
