The Fool of Tarot and your Inner Child

The Fool Tarot Card

The Fool As Your Inner Child

Consider the fool card as a representation of your inner child. Now ask yourself, what can hurt this being? What can wound one’s inner child? There is no one simple answer to this. A few things that may do this are a dashing of hope, a placement of limitation, a sense of separation and abandonment. Remember, we are perfect. We are born knowing what the world should be. We are intimately aware of oneness. It is though, the harsh realities of life on earth, of having the indignities of the ego thrust upon us that we lose sight of these things.

These things, however, are not fully gone. They are simply covered over by blankets that hide the truth, the light. Over time, this light is hidden, but on a deeper level not completely forgotten. This light still shines; however muted it may be by all these layers.

Over time, we begin to question the life of the ego that we are embroiled in. We begin to examine these blankets and question their validity. One by one, we begin to remove these layers, peeling them away, one and then the next and the next until we uncover that light of truth of who we are.

When we are born, we are still very aware of our team of divine helpers and the fact that we have a mission and a purpose on the earth. Because we know it, we assume that those in our life know it too. It confuses us that they do not act as though they know it. They seem to act in ways that are counterproductive to achieving their purpose. They ignore the help and guidance offered by the divine helpers. This is confusing. These people are our caregivers. Because we rely on them so heavily, they must know the truth, know what’s best.

Their thoughts and ideas become our own. We are now enculturated. We are now a part of our society. Slowly our awareness of the divine truth of ourselves gives way to the projections of society. Now we are what society needs us to be and what it expects of us. Now the burden of rediscovering our truth is on us, should we take on the task. But is it a burden?

The peeling away of these blankets to get back to that core light can be both thrilling and exciting, can it not be? The process of discovering, the process of stumbling upon answers and then figuring out the question that fits it can instigate a journey like no other. This can be thrilling! What do we learn of ourselves and of society if we do not go through this process of discovery? This is what it means to incarnate and be present on the earth. In this way, we achieve balance. We achieve balance between our divine self and our earthly self. What we learn on the earth becomes our soul. This soul, and its knowledge and wisdom contribute to the knowingness of all beings of the universe. This is The Silence. This creates a universal strength. In the reality of oneness, the wisdom of one is the wisdom and strength of all.

When the fool card comes up for you in a reading, consider this. Where are you on the path of personal discovery? Do you understand yourself? Do you have a sense of why you are here? If not, what don’t you understand? Consider you talents, your desires, your ambitions. These are your guide markers. These tell you what direction to head. By following your desires and pursuing your talents, you achieve your purpose. These things keep your inner child alive, well, happy, content, and blissful. A happy inner child is a productive inner child, for he/she is intimately aware of your life’s purpose and will keep you pointed in its direction. Honor your inner child. He/she deserves it.

The Fool: Feeling Accomplished

The Fool Tarot Card

The Fool Tarot Card: Feeling accomplished

Don’t you just love that feeling of accomplishment? That feeling that you’ve gone full circle on some endeavor or other, and now you are ready to begin again, stronger, wiser, and motivated to do something new? This is the kind of Fool essence to focus on today. Consider the journey that your life has been, and notice just how much you have done, how much you have accomplished?

Don’t you feel like the journey has brought you back to the beginning, only this time the purpose of the journey has shifted? Maybe now the purpose is not to learn or to gather knowledge or strength, but now to utilize what you have learned. How are you a wiser fool than you were before? Maybe what you were meant to learn, meant to amass, you have done so. Go now as an example and a mentor for others. This is exciting. Be a Fool with great wisdom and strength!

The Fool of Tarot- Strength, Weakness, and Needs

The Fool Tarot Card: 007 Tarot Deck

Consider each card of tarot to represent a piece of who you are. When you do this, you gain a deep understanding of yourself and others. Ask also, how does each card represent a strength of mine? A weakness? A need? What are my Fool Archetype strengths, weaknesses, and needs?

Strength–  The strength of the Fool is in the ability to throw caution to the wind and proceed without worry. The strength of the fool is in knowing that no matter what, things are going to turn out just fine. Maybe things will turn out as they expect it to, or maybe it will turn out some other way. What’s the difference? Either way, it will turn out as it is meant to, so how bad could it be? The strength of the Fool is in just being; just being happy, just being content, just being satisfied. All is well with the Fool. The Strength of the fool is the ability to not focus on what is negative, but rather the ability to turn anything around to be positive and strong. The strength of the Fool is in the ability to have faith in one’s self even when times seem tough. The strength of the Fool is the ability to get through it, whatever “it” is. The strength of the Fool is to not give up, ever, to keep on keeping on without the worry of how things will end up right and good, only that they will.

foolWeakness- The weakness of the Fool is in being too impulsive and not sticking with something. The weakness of the Fool is in being too quick to give up.  The weakness of the Fool is in jumping into something even though you know it is not the best thing for you and not thinking through the potential consequences of a situation or of your actions. The weakness of the Fool is in being unwilling to try something new or getting stuck in beliefs that do not serve you. The weakness of the Fool is in being unwilling to break away from a mindset  or being stubborn.

Needs- The need to break away from stagnation. The need for movement. The need for something new and a new adventure. The need to fill your soul with something new. The need to break free of restrictions and have the chance to sink or swim on your own. The need to break away from what is familiar to you and learn about yourself. The need for self-exploration and understanding.

The Fool: You Know it Will Work Out

Voyager Tarot Fool Child

The Fool Tarot Card: You know everything will work out

The Fool tarot Card will tell you can’t always know  what the outcome will be of an endeavor you are considering. No matter how much you think through the possibilities, there is always the possibility of an unforeseen outcome. With this in mind, why worry to much? You can only prepare so much. Once you feel sufficiently prepared, proceed. Even if you don’t feel sufficiently prepared, proceed anyway.

Deep down, you must know that everything will   work out just fine, right? Whatever needs to fall into place for this to work out for you, will. It always does. If it doesn’t, well, it wasn’t meant to be. Now you know. How would you know if you didn’t try? So try. See what happens. Things will work out as they are meant to, even if they don’t work out the way you want them to. Just keep adjusting and keep going forward. This is the journey of life. Embrace it fearlessly.

The Fool: Make Some Mistakes. It’s Okay.

The Fool Tarot Card: Mistakes are okay

The Fool urges you, today, make some mistakes. Put yourself in a position where you are free to explore the boundaries of your comfort zone, the limits of your endurance, the scope of your professional life, and the outer most horizons of your relationships. Do this without anybody looking over your shoulder making you feel self conscious or even self aware. Be free to make mistakes without judgment. Don’t let others judge you for the mistakes you will make, and don’t you dare judge your self either. How do we grow if we don’t make mistakes? What do we have to examine to say, “I’ll do it better next time” if we are forever and always perfect?

None of us are forever and always perfect, for no matter what, there is some room for improvement and there is room to fix the mistakes we make. From this, we grow. From this, we become better people. From this, we enlighten ourselves. So today, give yourself the space and the room to confidently make the mistakes you need to make to become the best person you can be. You can do it. Go.
