Fearing The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man may upset the status-quo

In tarot, The Hanged Man can scare people. He can anger them. He can even enrage them. He does this by speaking the truth. He sees and he speaks the absolute truth. He is not taken in or fooled by the facades and the projections that so many people use as shields to hide their truths. As he sees through these, he calls people out. He makes them face these truths. He makes them feel naked and vulnerable because the protection that the shield was meant to offer this protection is stripped away and now there is nothing but the ugliness about themselves for them to accept. But they don’t want to accept that. They don’t want to have to deal with this ugly truth. They themselves are bothered by it and are not equipped to face it. This is the reason for the facades and the shields. They feel threatened by the natural flow of nature and want to illusion of control over it. When that illusion of control is stripped away, they get defensive against the one who stripped it away by seeing through it. This often triggers them to go into the offense and lash out against the one who saw through it- the Hanged Man. They then identify the Hanged Man as somebody who will see through their facades and projections, and then fear and despise them for it. – Jim Larsen

The Hanged Man: Upsetting the Elite

As The Hanged Man you are able to see the things that nobody else can see. This makes you a valuable commodity. It also makes you feared. As you see from these other angles and these other perspectives, you are poised to point out the details that the power elite do not want being noticed. By pointing these out, you become an instigator of change.

The power elite does not want this change to happen, for as it happens, their power will be diminished, maybe rendered obsolete. They will fight this. If they cannot come right out and stop you, they will endeavor to delegitimize you. They may do this with full force and will not be satisfied until you are rendered untrusted and without credibility or merit. There are many ways to see anything or any situation. The power elite though, wants to limit what can be seen. As the Hanged Man, you are considered an enemy for showing another way.

Do not be afraid to step into the full power of your Hanged Man quality. Keep showing what you see and telling what you know. Trust that your messages are important. Let the words of Kris Kristofferson in his song, To Beat The Devil ring true for you: “Because I don’t believe that no one wants to know…”

The Hanged Man Tarot Card: Examine What Is In Opposition to your Pain

In a lot of ways, the Hanged Man tarot card is about seeing and understanding the world from other angles. This includes our own life as we endeavor to understand who we are. We will at times be put into different and trying circumstances as a chance to examine our lives from these different angles. This is will likely not always be fun, but to really appreciate who we are it worthwhile to not shirk from the discomfort and the pain these circumstances bring

To ride the discomfort and pain out is to see why this pain and discomfort exists in the first place. We can examine what this pain and discomfort exists in opposition to. This tells us what is truly and intrinsically important to us, or we would not be triggered by what opposes them. The next time you find yourself in a situation that is uncomfortable to you, take a Hanged Man approach to dealing with it and examine it from all possible viewpoints. The Hanged Man: The Einstein Connection

The Hanged Man Tarot Card: What Einstein would have done

” No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” Albert Einstein said that. He could have easily been quoting The Hanged Man. Think about it. When you have a problem, is it solved by thinking the same thoughts about it? Is it solved by looking at it from the same angle? By thinking the same thoughts and looking at it from the same angle does nothing but reiterate what you already know about it. You can only do that for so long before you realize you are not getting anywhere this way. That is when you need to shake it up.

Examine the problem from other angles. Figure it out what it is really made of so you have a better idea of what you are dealing with. Turn it upside down. Look at it from that angle. What new thoughts does this inspire about it? What new things have you figured out about it?

Somewhere in this new angle is a thought about a solution. Or maybe you need to alter the angle a little more to find it. The important thing is, don’t fixate on one way of thinking or looking at a problem. Examine it from a variety of angles to find a workable solution. It’s what Albert Einstein would have done, and Albert Einstein embodied the Hanged Man. –Jim Larsen
