4 of Cups: You Don’t Have to be stuck

4 of Cups Tarot Card

Four of Cups Tarot Card: Get your energy unstuck

The meaning of the 4 of Cups tarot card can include stuck energy. Think about it. When you are bored, you are stuck. You are not motivating yourself to get up and do something. You have accepted the idea that “there is nothing to do” and you are wallowing in it. Energy is not flowing in a situation like this. It is stuck.

The 4 of Cups tarot card can also illustrate what is like being around people with this attitude. It can really suck to be around people who have given up on motivating there own self. On your own, you could be perfectly fine having a slow-paced, easy going day. But there is that other person, whining and complaining about not having anything to do, and worse yet, doing mindless things to kill time- things like watching TV even though they have no interest in what is on, but that energy from the TV is filling the room and you are stuck with it.

You can’t really do a whole lot to get this other person motivated. The best you can do is look out for your self. Get your energy unstuck by finding something to do. Find a way to occupy your mind. See what you can do that is of value to your self or to somebody else. Being trapped in a paradigm of stuck energy can grind a day to a halt and maybe make you question why you are even here. Remind yourself of the value of your life by finding worthwhile things to fill your time with. Get up, move, do something. This is how you beat the 4 of Cups energy. —Jim Larsen

4 of Cups: Boredom is a Mindset

4 of Cups Tarot Card

4 of Cups Tarot Card: Turn your boredom around

Boredom is a mindset. Look at this guy in the 4 of cups tarot card. He doesn’t have to be so bored if he could train his mind to find other qualities in a situation. Boredom is not an intrinsic quality of humankind. The mind is meant to be a tool that contributes to the betterment and the survival of the overall being, but all too often it turns against the overall being and causes stress and distress.

The mind, capable of deep and profound thoughts, often spends its time looking for what is wrong. Sometimes what is wrong is that “There is nothing to do” or “This that I have to do is dull and uninteresting.” And then it does nothing to fix this perceived problem. It doesn’t look for alternate ways of looking at it to make it more interesting. It doesn’t look for the humor in it. It doesn’t look for a philosophical component to it. No, it just whines that it is uninteresting. This is unfortunate. As powerful as the mind is, when it searches for new and different ideas about a situation, it will find them, and it will have new dimensions to explore. So that is a good thing to do.

When feeling bored about something, instead of feeling defeated by that boredom, turn it around and force your mind to find another way to perceive that thing. It doesn’t even have to be anything big. It could be some little thing that you can ponder, laugh about, or deconstruct. Do this, and your mind will be active. You can even write about what you find. Some people have made good money examining the smallest things in life. They turned their boredom around and made it work for them. They didn’t let their inner 4 of cups get to them. — Jim Larsen

4 of Cups: You Are In a Rut

4 of Cups Tarot Card: It is time to change things up

The 4 of cups tarot card reminds you that if you are in a rut, then do something to get out of it! Ruts happen easily. We get into our daily routines so easily and before we know it, they define us. We become complacent in our routines. We don’t even realize how bored with it all we have become until one day it hits us- BAM! Every day is all just the same as every other day.

When this happens, it is seriously time to change things up- however you define that concept. Find something new to do. Do something differently. Create a new routine. If you don’t,  what do you think you will happen? What could happen is, you will get further and further into your rut and you will become even more bored and maybe even depressed. Don’t let this happen! Find ways to make life interesting again. This is what the 4 of cups has to say to you today.

4 of Cups: Use Your Down Time

4 of Cups Tarot Card

4 of Cups Tarot Card: Why let negativity go to waste when you can compost it?

Today, make good use of downtime. Instead of brooding and feeling bored when you have “nothing to do,” find something to fill the time. Read a book. Meditate. Plan a vacation. Don’t just sit there like its up to the world to give you purpose or entertainment. Find these things on your own accord. Take inventory of your negative thoughts and find a way to transform them into something positive.

There is a way.  Find it. Do it. Are you a song writer? Write a song with your negative feelings as a prompt. Are you a story teller? Do the same thing. Why let this negativity go to waste when you can compost it? Let your boredom and your negativity become the soil that something enriching will grow from. Do it today.

4 of Cups Tarot Card: Fix what ever is wrong

Oh come on! Get over it! Quit moping around like the world is out to get you, like  the world owes you for this that or whatever else. You do know, don’t you, that you are responsible for your own happiness and your own contentment. Don’t sit there like everything that is wrong is beyond your scope to fix. Whatever is bothering you is doing so because you are letting it. If you are bored with life, it’s because you approach life in a boring way. You create your own paradigms, so if you are discontent with the one you are in, go in and make some changes. Fix it!

Don’t expect some other entity beyond yourself to do it for you. The sooner you get this simple idea into that thick skull of yours, the sooner you can start living life to its fullest and stop whining. Do it. Quit whining. Quit complaining. Quit acting like the world owes you something. Lift your head up and realize just how good everything really is when you stop looking at it through the much and mire of our own making.

4 of Cups Tarot Card: Don’t Stay Stuck

The 4 of Cups tarot card tells you that boredom is a sign that it is time to try something different. Do something you’ve never tried before. Go for a walk somewhere you’ve never walked before. Listen to some music you’ve never listened to before. Stop doing the same same same same that you always do and do something different. Expand your comfort zone, expand your boundaries, go beyond your personal borders into new territory and explore.

Why stay stuck? Seriously, why? It’s such a big, diverse world with so much to try and so much to do, why limit yourself to the same ridiculous patterns, especially when you’ve exhausted them of the excitement they once offered? So stop whining, stop brooding, stop complaining about your life and do something to change it up. Simple as that.

4 of Cups Tarot Card: Overcoming Complacency

Boredom can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, can it not? We get stuck in the idea that  there is “nothing to do” so we sit around and do nothing. When we do this, doom and gloom set in. We begin to believe the stagnant, empty feeling inside. We begin to believe that this is the true reality of our life. We begin to think that nothing good or worthwhile is going to come around, so we don’t try to find anything. We become complacent and willing to do things that bring us very little, if any fulfillment. We accept the unhappiness that this brings.

But why? Why do we do this? It makes no sense! Get up! Look around! There is always something to occupy your time and your mind. That is the message of the 4 of Desire (4 of cups) tarot card today. Quit wallowing in the self-afflicted misery of boredom and look up! Look around! Look behind you! Something is going on somewhere that you can put yourself into. If not, create something. The important thing is, don’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself under any circumstances. “Life’s for the living, so live it or you’re better off dead.”– Passenger
