Hierophant: Discovering Your Own Answers

The Fool’s Path Tarot Hierophant

The Hierophant Tarot Card: Don’t simply settle for answers, but find them

The power of the Hierophant is not merely settling for the answers provided by others, but rather to personally investigate, meditate, and find your own answers. What answers can you find within? What can you bring out to share with others? To be a Hierophant, be an answer giver. Not just answers for the sake of answers, but answers that are real and that resonate with those who need them.

Don’t settle buzzwords or catch phrases, for in them answers do not exist. These are simply pacifiers to sedate true seekers of real answers. Go beyond that. Don’t settle for that. Expect more, as well as give more. This is what a true Hierophant does.

The Tower: Benefit From Your Pain

Tower Tarot Card: How to face a Dark Night of the Soul without fear

The Tower Tarot Card
The Tower Tarot Card

A dark night of the soul is one of the most painful and difficult things to endure, yet one of the most beneficial to your enlightenment. Sometimes, this can be thought of as a Tower, in the Tarot sense of the word. Think of all the hurt and pain and sorrow you have experienced as still being with you, taking physical form and taking up physical space within you. With a Dark night of the Soul, you have the chance to dissolve these forms. You have the opportunity to seriously look at these forms and identify them for what they are, and deal with them in a constructive way. Experience them each fully and they dissolve. The space within that this form was now becomes vacant and the empty feeling can be jarring and uncomfortable.

The trick now is to fill it with something positive and productive. Imagine pure white light filling these empty spaces. Imagine this as healing and vibrant energy. This energy is the opposite of the heavy and solid energy of the sadness it replaces. It is light and buoyant. Without the heaviness that was just there, you are not stuck on the ground, mired in the stagnant muck of despair. No, you are free and light and can now ascend and fly.

So fly. Ask your spirit where it wants to go and let it lead the way. Don’t tether your spirit to the ground with any more weighty concerns. Set your spirit free and let it fly. Don’t let your mind dictate where your spirit will go. Let your mind follow. Your spirit will fly towards enlightenment. You just need to let it. So the sooner you experience your Dark Night of the Soul, the sooner your spirit can fly. The sooner your spirit flies, the sooner you find your truth and enlightenment. Why put it off for fear?

To experience this Dark Night of the Soul is painful. Pain is a fearful thing. It is easy to run from it and to hide from it. When you run and hide from it, you don’t receive the benefits of it. So find the courage and the fortitude and face a Dark Night of the Soul head on. This is what it means to face the Tower of Tarot head on.

Temperance: You are Not In a Vacuum

Temperance Tarot Card: Notice how your energy effects others

None of us live in a vacuum. We are receptive of the energies that others put out, just as they are receptive of the energy that we ourselves put out. The temperance card of tarot reminds us of this. Take a look at how your actions, reactions, attitude and general disposition effect a situation and the people around you. Do you promote harmony or disharmony? Or are you completely neutral? How do you feel in the crowd? How do you feel in various situations? Are you comfortable or uncomfortable? What is it about the situation that makes you feel this way? Can you pinpoint it?

We can’t always control how others will feel around us. The best we can do sometimes is to try not to put out too much negative energy, and endeavor as we can to not be a downer that is going to make others feel drained. This is to be empowered by the Temperance archetype of tarot.

The Hanged Man: Go With The Flow

The Hanged Man Tarot Card; How to appreciate opposition

Make this one of those “Go with the flow” kind of days. You can’t be in control of everything, and why would you want to be? If you were in control of everything, where would the surprises come from? Where would the issues arrive that you have to develop the strength to deal with? When would your problem skills ever come into play? How would you ever grow? How would you ever evolve?

You need a little opposition in your life in order to propel you to become the person you need to be. So accept when you can’t be in charge of all aspects of what’s going on in your life. Say, “It is what it is” when what it is is with out your ability to change it. Now you are truly embodying the the archetype of The Hanged Man.

5 of Cups: Disappointment Helps You Thrive

5 of Cups Tarot Card: It’s not personal

You can’t always get what you want, and things don’t always go your way. If you can be okay with that, you will thrive, so don’t take everything personally. If somebody does not live up to your expectation, it does not mean that it is an attack against you in any way. It just means that they are in a different alignment than you. It’s not personal, so do your best to get over it and not make anybody feel guilty about it, because do they deserve a guilt trip over your insecurities? How is that fair? It isn’t fair.

So, consider the 5 of cups as an invitation to get over what you feel is against you, because it was never about you to begin with. Nobody is in your head but you. So nobody knows what bothers you except you. So in the course of somebody just going through the moments of their life, don’t let it bother you if seems contrary to you want. It’s not their fault. Think about it.

5 of Wands: Love Your Competition

5 of Wands Tarot Card: Why competition is so important

5 of wands tarot card
5 of wands tarot card

Competition keeps you on your toes. It keeps you out of complacency and keeps you always thriving to be that much better. Embrace competition in whatever it is you do, be it as a musician, magician, statistician, beautician or mortician. When see other people who do the same thing you do, and you see that  they are doing it better than you are doing it, don’t get mad. Get even.

It’s time to reevaluate your own ways. It is time to assess what is working and how to make it work even better. It is time to take note of what is not working and decide if this process even matters anymore. If not, eliminate it. Stop putting energy towards something that is not working, and put it towards improving something that does. Keep doing this. This is a message from the 5 of Wands. Don’t fall into stagnation while your competition keeps on getting more and more ahead of you.

The Devil: Getting to The Root of Triggers

The Devil Tarot Card: Addressing the Original Trigger

Notice what triggers you, and discern why exactly this is so. It is easy to notice when we are triggered, but getting deep into the roots of it to understand why is a tremendous challenge.  But it is doable. It goes beyond what makes sense to us deep into some ancient pain or fear. To figure it out,  you must trace the shadow back to the light. Endeavor to find the original wounding so that you can heal it as best you can. Maybe you cannot find this original wounding. Maybe it happened when you were too young to remember. Maybe it wasn’t even from this lifetime, but rather a karmic ripple from a lifetime once lived that still reaches you today. If this is the case, go to plan B. Plan B is to imagine yourself, perhaps in the form you are now, or in another form if that makes sense to you, and see what you believe this original attack on yourself may have looked like. See it happening, and step in to stop it. Prevent it from happening. Send love and healing energy to this version of yourself. Let this version of yourself know that they are safe and okay. Protect this version of yourself. Let them know you won’t let anybody or anything hurt them. Now, a new ripple will go forth through time to the person you are now, and perhaps these things won’t be so potent and hurtful.
