Death Tarot Card: Reaching Guideposts

Think of the Death tarot card this way- on the path to our personal enlightenment, we arrive at guideposts. These are points along our path where we are destined to reach. They signify growth and let us know we are on the right path and doing the right thing. Somehow, we just know that we reached at one. We feel it in our guts and we simply have a feeling of arrival. We reach these landmarks and we absorb the energy we are meant to absorb from them. Then, it is time to carry on to the next guidepost.

The space between the guideposts may seem dark, distant, and uncertain, and it takes faith to know that we going in the right direction. Don’t doubt yourself and don’t second guess yourself. Know with certainty that your feet are taking you in the right direction even if your head doesn’t understand it. As we set out for the next guidepost, it is like we are leaving behind a chapter of our life to reach the next one. This is as if to die and be born anew. Today is a day to seek this new birth.

Let go of who you have been. Take with you the strength you have gathered in the arrival of the last guidepost, but move forward to the next one. At the arrival of the next one, it will seem as though you are starting something new and exciting in your life, This is the lesson of the Death card today. Move forward. Don’t grow stagnant. The next guidepost is ahead of you. Go for it.

2 of Swords: Talk to the Hand

The 2 of swords tarot card says, sometimes, don’t you just want to say “Talk to the hand?” People are coming at you, running their mouths, expecting you to listen to what they have to say, expecting you to care. But do you want to listen? Would you rather  be alone with your own thoughts than to listen to this blow-hard prattle on?  Do you really care what they are talking about? Is it just another story about what their granddaughter did?  Is it a request? Are they asking you to do something they could just as easily do their self? Are they asking you what time it is, when they could just as easily look at the clock on the wall for themselves?

Today may be that kind of a day. Of course, you need to be polite, or should be at least. It isn’t always appropriate to put your hand up and tell them to be quiet. You really can’s say “Would you just shut up!” to anybody. So what can you do? Tolerate them as bet you can then slip away. If possible, avoid these people altogether today. The Ace of Pentacles tarot card tells you, the word of the day is “Potential.” Think in terms of potential energy. Here is something that could easily happen, but you must supply the right conditions for it. You have ideas and resources. Combined, these ideas and resources can easily turn into something beneficial and lucrative.

So, make it happen. Think of this potential energy in terms of a kernel of popcorn. Stored inside that kernel is the potential to pop and turn into something quite different from that little kernel. But it is not going to pop spontaneously without any help. You need to provide the proper conditions, grease in a pan (if you are old school about it) and the right amount of heat.

The point is, it takes conscious effort. What kernel of potential do you have stored in your mind? Throw some grease on it and turn up the heat. Watch it pop. Watch it turn into something a whole lot better than what it was when it started. This is the message of the Ace of Pentacles for today.

6 of Pentacles Tarot Card: Help Each Other

None of us are alone on the planet. We all interact and come in contact with other people all the time. Sometimes we like to act better than others, but are we really? When you come right down to it, don’t we all want the same basic things? That being the case, why not help each other out? If I see you and see that there is something I have have that you could use, why not give it to you?

If you see me in lack of something you have, why not help me out with it? Let’s all show each other a little appreciation and respect this way. It may not start with another person in your life, so let it start with you. Just for today, be giving. Whatever that may mean in any particular situation. You do it, and I’ll do it. Maybe others will catch on and want to be a part of it.

If we are lucky, maybe others will feel like they are missing out on some important new movement in the world and they will start doing it too. Who knows, maybe this spirit of generosity will become the new normal. How cool would that be?

Now ask yourself, who in your life could benefit from these qualities from you? Is there somebody who is feeling low, who could really use a friend or a comrade? What can you do for this person, or these people?

Just for today, do not be blind to the people who could really use a little of that magic you offer. If this is somebody you are comfortable giving a hug, give them a hug. If this is somebody you can make laugh, make them laugh. Would they laugh at a hug from you? That would be two birds with one stone, wouldn’t it?

Be mindful and be thoughtful of the people you encounter today. In the future, they will remember and appreciate you as the person who was there for them that time. That is a good thing. It generates positive ripples that will reverberate out to others. Keep this in mind.
